After years of complaints about flooding at Lake Trafford Memorial Gardens, county leaders have finally decided to move forward trying to solve the problem.

This week, Collier County announced that it has chosen Agnoli, Barber & Brundage (ABB) to oversee the work needed at Lake Trafford Memorial Gardens.

ABB has extensive experience when it comes to working with county leaders. The company has been involved in a number of other local government projects including two building additions at the government complex in east Naples as well as the development of the Courthouse Stormwater Management Plan.

According to Brandon Sancho, Citizen Liaison with Collier County Administrative Services Department, ABB’s notice to proceed is expected to be issued on Monday, February 12, 2018.

ABB will then have 60 days from that date to develop and submit plans for a permit.

“I’m really happy that this process is getting started so the cemetery can be fixed. This is something that has needed to happen for as long as I can remember! Our loved ones deserve a beautiful final resting place; not one where we have to worry if any sort of heavy rain will unearth them or destroy their plots” said Crystal Sage whose family is buried at the cemetery.

Sancho did not provide information as to what improvements will be made at the cemetery, but as those formal plans develop and ABB is approved through the permitting process, that information will be made available.
