Human Remains Identified

The Collier County Medical Examiner’s Office has determined that human remains discovered Sunday, Nov. 26, 2017, are those of Jacob “Jake” Ruddy, a Collier County man who was 25 when his family reported him missing last November.

Family members told the Collier County Sheriff’s Office that they last saw Jacob Ruddy on Nov. 6, 2016. CCSO detectives entered him in state and national missing person databases, publicized the case, checked area hospitals and jails, interviewed witnesses, and followed up on leads but were unable to locate him.

The death investigation is continuing, with CCSO, the Medical Examiner’s Office and members of the Florida Gulf Coast University’s Forensic Anthropology department working to ascertain whether a cause of death can be determined.

The remains were found Sunday night in a wooded area near the 4900 block of Sandra Bay Drive, off Livingston and Immokalee roads.
