Students First “Grad Walks”

With the tune of “Pomp and Circumstance” playing joyfully through the speakers, graduating seniors from Immokalee High School, dressed in their caps and gowns, walked the halls of Pinecrest Elementary School. The Pinecrest students cheered with excitement and shared signs of encouragement.

It wasn’t graduation just yet. These events are known throughout CCPS as “Grad Walks,” and each elementary school in Immokalee welcomed graduates on Tuesday, May 21.

These celebratory Grad Walks are meant to inspire our younger students and instill the importance of education. Our elementary students look up to and admire our high schoolers. And seeing them get ready to take that all-important walk across the stage makes our younger students want to earn a diploma for themselves.

At Pinecrest, there was no shortage of high-fives and beaming smiles as many of the graduating seniors work in the after-school program and are well known to its community. “The CCPS Grad Walk is one of the highlights of our year,” shared Pinecrest principal Susan Jordan. “Our students get a chance to see their own future as they cheer on our local seniors. We are so proud of these Immokalee graduates!”

The Immokalee High School Class of 2019 officially graduates Friday, May 24, at 7:00 p.m. at Alico Arena in Fort Myers. We wish our Indians well as they begin their next journey and look forward to hearing of their #CCPSSuccess along the way.

Congratulations, Class of 2019!
