Another incredible run for the Indians boys’ soccer team in 2016-17 but a loss to Merritt Island in the State Semifinal kept the boys from a second consecutive trip to the State Championship game.
The Indians had another outstanding season that brought a fourth consecutive District Championship as well as a third consecutive Regional Title to Immokalee.
A record 20-2-2, 101 goals scored and 11 against, as well as 14 shutouts, not too bad. Immokalee High School Soccer has become a state power house. The team has to just get over that hump and bring the State Championship home. This was our second loss to Merritt Island in the state semifinals in the last three years.
We will miss our seniors, Jonas Jean Charles, Kensley “Pollo” Jn Baptiste, Fouchrad Frantzdy, Djovanny Legagneur, Salvador Preciado, and Uli Soto. They have given much to our program and they are a big part of our success over the last four years. Thank you boys!
Looking forward to 2017-18, we still have a nucleus of veterans returning plus some outstanding JV players that will be competing for starting roles. Soccer at Gary Bates Stadium will be exciting again next year.
Many thanks to all of our faithful supporters.
